Reasons for Accessing the Fund
A variety of reasons exist for students wishing to access the Fund. These include:
family and personal difficulties
unplanned change of circumstances
homelessness issues
debt
start of term changing over from state benefits to college or SAAS (Student Awards Agency for Scotland)funding
budgeting problems
Benefits to Students
Benefits of the Fund include:
assisting students to continue with their studies
assisting students to get through a period of financial hardship
short term assistance coupled with referral to specialist agencies for debt and money management support
assisting students when other hardship monies have been fully allocated
assisting staff to be aware of vulnerable students such as those made homeless and those in crisis, and other appropriate supports can be offered
How Much Money is Required?
On average
2,500 is distributed to students each year. Funds are generated through a variety of fundraising activities organised by the Students, Staff and Trustees. However, as demand for the Fund increases so does the level of funds required.
